Introducing Voistory: The conversational voice journal
I am beyond excited to announce the launch of Voistory, a conversational voice journal.
The inspiration
I don’t think of myself as a journaler. I do have hundreds of journal entries scattered across various notebooks, Word and Google docs, and voice memos. Journaling clarifies my thoughts, relieves stress, and gives me the space to reflect…
…and every one of those entries was a struggle. The blank page is a terrifying sight; the awkward silence at the start of a voice memo is excruciating. I have plenty of ideas worth journaling about, but the process is so painful that most times, I don’t even start.
Recently, though, I’ve needed a journal more and more. I’m starting a company. I'm a new parent. My life is in flux, and I need an outlet.
Could I use my tech background to build a conversational voice journaling app? Was there a way to break through my journaling block — to make it easier to start an entry and get to the good stuff?
Enter Voistory.
The tool
Voistory is the world’s first conversational voice journaling app. Simply hit the “call button” and have a spoken conversation with the realistic AI voice that will help bring out your thoughts and feelings, and also summarize each session with a personalized summary and illustration.
To me, Voistory was game-changing. I not only found my journaling block gone, but started journaling much more frequently—walking the dogs, cleaning the house, even while driving (it’s a voice app, no hands needed). And the more I journaled, the easier it became—using the app felt like building a relationship with a caring friend.
Feedback
Is it just me? In our early beta tests, we found that early testers were also using Voistory to clarify their thoughts and document critical stages in their life. Yet that wasn’t all - they were also using the app to document dreams, process grief, help them parent, tackle creative projects, even coach them to improve connections with other humans.
Some of our users describe this better than I can:
"Voistory has been life-changing. It's like having a patient, non-judgmental friend anytime I need to talk."
"Voistory is now my alarm, and I blurt out my dreams with my eyes half closed before I forget anything"
"Making the jump from musician to digital marketer has been a little scary, and Voistory helps me learn the lingo and build confidence."
Voistory began as an idea to help me journal, but quickly became something more—a conversational Moleskine; a true companion, one that can help us reflect, and process, and navigate the world.
What's next?
A conversational Moleskine.
One that learns and grows with you. That’s what we’re building at Voistory - and we’re just getting started.
The more people use Voistory, the better we’ll get at helping people connect with themselves, and others. Some people out there are AI maximalists; others are doomsday-ers. Me? I fundamentally believe AI can help us access our deepest selves, our shared humanity, the stories in our everyday lives.
More to come,
Ben
